For this Video Premiere we're taking a look at "Falling Down" from Teen Mortgage. This is a song from their 2019 EP "Life/Death". The video is pretty rad, and draws on nostalgia featuring clips of 90's TV commercials. This was our first time listening to the band, but "Falling Down" has guaranteed that it will not be the last.
Self described as a "Sludgey garage punk two piece from DC", the band draws on a few different genre elements to really make their own sound. Surf Rock, Indie, Grunge, Alternative, Punk and Garage Rock sounds are all present in this track. What sold us was the heavy choruses in this song. Boasting both an aggressive and anthemic theme, the choruses in this track pretty much secure the fact that this song will stay in your head for the rest of the day (but in a good way!).
The transitions in the song are really cool as well. You're taken on quite a journey from beginning to end, which includes a bad ass bridge/breakdown. By the time the song is over, you find yourself hitting refresh to listen to it again. We went on to listen to the rest of their "Life/Death" EP, and we've got to say, this band has some serious potential. Every song on that release rips! We don't know what they have planned next, but we're hoping for some more new music soon.
