Olympia-based band, Storm Boy, recently dropped their new EP, With a Gasp that Reached to the Sky. A 4-track ripper that boasts anthemic energy from start to finish, this is a dynamic release that any fan of the genre will enjoy. What a release!
Walking the fine line between punk rock, alternative, and straight-up rock n roll, the band shines brightly here by delivering a sound that feels nostalgic while at the same time new. A familiar presence floats in and out of each song as they effortlessly transition into each other. This makes the album feel very full and complete. Unlike a random collection of songs, With a Gasp that Reached to the Sky, feels very intentional.
It looks like the band has had a pretty busy year steadily releasing music. We're not sure what they have planned next, but this EP emits a poppy and singalong force that leaves you wanting more, and that's exactly what an EP is supposed to do. Storm Boy is a band that every fan of the punk rock world should have on their radar.
