Sleepy Gary’s newest single makes us feel like we’re inside an old-school side-scrolling video game complete with whirling chiptunes sounds. It’s finessed indie-pop with quiet, sparse sections of slightly gritty guitar and charming vocals coupled with driving pop choruses.
As explained by the artist, this is a breakup song, but not a typical one because it’s about taking a break from a destructive something rather than a difficult someone. This track manages to be smart and meaningful and trendy. Two thumbs way up.
