“Here, You Throw This Away” is the droll, self-effacing title of the newest release from east coast rock band Old Currents. Reviving elements of skate punk with mids-driven guitar tone, plucky bass, and punchy drums, we are immediately suckered in. Subtle, well-written backup vocals hint at uniquely stylized pop punk, while the natural vocal style and cutting guitar leads offer almost a twinge of modern outlaw country, akin to the country-punk of Social D.
This track is a first glimpse into the band’s forthcoming full-length album, The Glory, The Defeat, set to release April 22, 2022.
