Hello World! We're excited to be bringing you another volume of New Tunes Discovered! As always, we're covering 8 tracks from 8 different underground artists we've became fans of. We pretty much hit every genre under the "Rock" umbrella here, so there should be something for everyone. Check out the tunes below, you might just find your new favorite band!
Allergic to Humans - Uggly Things
First up we have the Garage/Punk rock track "Uggly Things" by the Swedish band Allergic to Humans. Ripping guitars, non stop Indie-styled drums, catchy vocal melodies... "Uggly Things" has everything needed to make it a hit. This was our first time listening to Allergic to Humans, but now we're guaranteed to be back. It's always refreshing to hear a track that draws from multiple genre influences. In this track you can hear aspects of Garage, Punk, Rock n Roll, Indie and more. We also added "Uggly Things" to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify.
Blame Baby - Silhouette
Up next we have the catchy Indie tune "Silhouette" from the Los Angeles based band Blame Baby. This was a track we liked right from the beginning. The song pulls you in with a catchy instrumental before taking you on a journey of poppy hooks, well sang vocals, a guitar driven bridge and unique transitions. We'll warn you now that the chorus of "Silhouette" will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day, but in a good way! We're not sure what this band has planned next, but if this was any indication of what's to come, we'll bet that Blame Baby will soon be a better known name.
Countless Thousands - Fat Cat
"Fat Cat" by Countless Thousands is a unique and super fun track. Hard to narrow down into a single genre, the band classifies themselves as "Enthusiastic Rock Music", and we'd agree. Elements of Punk, Alternative Rock, Hard Rock, Indie and straight up Rock n Roll are all present in this track. This was our first time listening to Countless Thousands, but we're confident that "Fat Cat" was the perfect track to show us the versatility of the band. The song takes on quite a journey, and by the time it's over, you'll be hitting the replay button.
The Hot Babe Lovers - ARG Song
Switching into the gears of Pop Punk, we bring you "ARG Song" by The Hot Babe Lovers. What's impressive about this track right from the beginning was learning that this is a solo project! The Hot Babe Lovers is a one man band from Brazil currently located in Finland. Even taking that out of the equation, the song is impressive as a whole. It's a catchy track right from the beginning. A heavy intro and anthemic choruses are cut by poppy and fun ska-inspired verses. It's an easy track to move around to. We liked "ARG Song" so much we added it to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify.
Ideas Into Action - The Slime Eater
"The Slime Eater" by Italian Punk band Ideas Into Action is a track that rips from front to back! It gets right into your face and stays there the whole time, but in a good way. This track isn't just a 2:30 attack though, it's transitions are very unique which gives it an overall unique sound. The bridge of this track cuts it up in a very creative way. By the time the song is over, you're going to find yourself checking out the rest of their released discography. Make sure to follow these guys (linked above), because we've been told they have new music in the works. We also added this track to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify.
Nicolas Cage Fighter - Black Jackal
So, aside from having the best band name imaginable, Australian hardcore band, Nicolas Cage Fighter, crushed it with their latest single "Black Jackal." This is definitely the heaviest song on New Tunes Discovered Volume 7. Light synths draw you into the song before erupting right into a Death Metal anthem! Heavy instrumentals, screamed vocals, solid transitions, a crazy epic breakdown, etc... All the elements of a Hardcore hit are there. This is the lead single from their upcoming album "Cast You Out", so if you like what you hear, make sure to follow the band for that release date. We also added this track to our Heavy Heavy Heavy playlist on Spotify.
Anonymous Phone Call - Homemade
"Homemade" by Anonymous Phone Call is a great Pop Rock/Emo acoustic track. Full of heart and emotion, the track is complimented heavily by its strong acoustic guitar and multiple vocals. The track brings on a sense of remembrance, which we feel like is what the band had set out to do. A perfect chill track to jam to with all the craziness going on in the world right now. This was our first time listening to the band, but "Homemade" led us to check out the rest of their discography, which then led to us becoming fans. Give this track a chance, because it might do the same for you.
Good Terms - Wither Away
We wanted to make sure to end New Tunes Discovered Volume 7 on an impactful note, and "Wither Away" by Los Angeles band Good Terms is the best track to do it. From the looks of it, this is the bands first release. What a track to debut on! Drawing influences from some major hitters in the scene, the band has also found a way to blend those elements into their own sound. There is a lot that is highlighted in this track. Cathy sing-along hooks, a classic Pop Punk breakdown, aggressive drumming and bass lines, gang vocals and unique guitar riffs are all present in this track, making "Wither Away" a true Pop Punk/Emo anthem. Make sure to follow these guys, because if this is any indication as to what's to come, you can expect to see Good Terms become a bigger name. We also added this track to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify.
