Melodic metal outfit Modern Welfare amplifies this archetypal maxim and even older axioms of fatal pride in the hard hitting social commentary “Forgive Us.” Cautionary lyrics recall ancient, ill-fated legends of catastrophic hubris - the Tower of Babel, Atlantis, Icarus, to name only a few of many. Soaring, searching vocals are paired with emotive guitar riffs, driving bass, and swiftly galloping drums that hasten us toward utter annihilation, devastation of our own human making.
This track is a wake-up call to all of us. Take great care with your earthly pride, lest it betray you and bring about ruination for everyone. Feeble pleas for forgiveness are always too little too late once the wheels of time have been set in motion.
