The latest track from Canuck quartet Colour Tongues is a glittery explosion of sugary shoegaze pop catalyzed by progressive indie rock. Verses of honeyed vocals and rainbow swirl guitars build into big indie pop rock choruses with booming drums, seismic bass, and candy-coated guitar riffs. It’s wonderfully imaginative, impressively catchy, and expertly produced.
We adore the entire soundscape of this track. It’s like walking through Honeydukes, the wizarding sweets shop, for the first time - magical confections whirring, bopping, and whizzing on tall shelves stretching as far as the eye can see, scrumptious surprises around every corner. And if this song were a sweets shop, our basket would be bursting with colorful, curious, and extraordinary candies to try by the time we reached the checkout.
We added this track to our Underground Indie & Alternative playlist on Spotify. Be dazzled and delighted by “Ashgrove,” then follow Colour Tongues for more music.
