Alcopops’ new single “True Bugs” transports us back to the golden era of 90s alt/grunge. The naked arpeggiated guitar opening reminds us of a relaxed Goo Goo Dolls’ “Slide,” but soon the introduction of wooly bass, detuned clean electric guitar, and washy, pedal-affected lead guitar bring us to the grunge side of the 90s, with an angelic alt rock voice that soothes our ears with a lilting melody.
“True Bugs” bundles up all the good elements of 90s music and delivers them with a cool factor that definitely sets it apart from both earlier eras and today’s popular genres. It’s the softer side of 90s alt; grunge’s grass smoking, flannel wearing younger brother.
We added their new single to our Underground Indie & Alternative playlist on Spotify. Listen to the track below and follow Alcopops for more band updates.
