Pittsburgh-based artist, Eastern Pine, dropped their killer debut EP earlier this year. Titled, extended.play, this is a beautifully crafted 7-track ride that's tough to take off repeat. Blending elements of Punk, Math Rock, Indie Rock, and Alternative, this is a dynamic sound that serves as a great way to display the artist's songwriting style.
It's always refreshing to come across a release that feels nostalgic while at the same time new. Eastern Pine makes sure to deliver each track with poppy vocal flows, melodic instrumentals, and spot-on production work. Some songs dive into the lighter side of Punk, and some songs dive into the heavier side of Indie, but every song delivers an infectious energy that will keep you wanting more. It's worth remembering that this is their debut EP, and if this is just a taste of what's to come, we can't wait to see what's next.
Each song flows seamlessly into the next on this release too. That's a big reason why extended.play feels so complete. Our only complaint? We wish it was longer! By the time this release is over all you'll want to do is hear more, and that's exactly what an EP is supposed to do.
You can jam along to the new release in its entirety below. We also added a couple of our personal favorites to our Underground Punk playlist on Spotify. If you like what you hear, make sure to follow Eastern Pine so you can stay on top of what else they have going on. Enjoy!
